World Renew Canada and Christian Relief and Development Organization (CREDO) are partnering on a food assistance project in Titao Municipality, Loroum Province, North Region, of Burkina Faso.
Burkina Faso has faced a security crisis since 2015 due to ongoing violence that has displaced millions of people, forced communities to abandon their means of subsistence, and disrupted education and health services. Titao Municipality is one of the worst-affected areas with acute food insecurity classified as IPC 3. Many households are eating one or fewer meals a day. The most affected are internally displaced people, pregnant women, nursing mothers, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
The project will provide three monthly transfers of in-kind food assistance comprised of 35 kg of rice, 50 kg of maize flour, 25 kg of beans, 5 L of cooking oil and 2 kg of salt. The approximate value of the food baskets is $137 household/month. The project will reach 10,465 participants in 1,495 households.
