World Renew and Canadian Baptist Ministries are partnering with Middle East Revive and Thrive (MERATH) to implement a food-assistance project in five governates in Lebanon.

Lebanon continues to experience an economic and food insecurity crisis caused by a combination of inflation, unemployment, the discontinuation of state subsidies, wage disparities, armed conflict, and the deterioration of basic services, as well as the recently accelerated dollarization of the economy. Many communities, particularly the large numbers of Syrian refugees, are experiencing IPC 3 levels of food insecurity, leaving households to engage in non-sustainable and negative coping mechanisms to survive. Inconsistent rainfall has further exacerbated these problems.

Depending on local preferences, each month the project will provide either grocery store vouchers valued at CAD 34 per household plus CAD 21 per individual (up to 5 individuals), or a supplemental food parcel. It aims to reach 3,016 households comprised of 12,064 individuals.
