As the world still grapples with a global hunger crisis, Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) is teaming up with Canadian Foodgrains Bank to end hunger this giving season, with special support from Caldwell Securities.

Any CFFO member donations made to the joint Giving Tuesday campaign (September 11 to December 3) will be matched dollar for dollar by CFFO, up to $5,000. A further $5,000 will be gifted by Caldwell Securities to help CFFO reach their donation goal, for a total of $10,000.

“This Giving Tuesday matching fund provides CFFO members the opportunity to double their donation in the fight against hunger, during a time when up to 757 million people globally experience chronic hunger”, says Foodgrains Bank executive director Andy Harrington.

For one in every 11 people globally, hunger is their daily reality. This devastating figure shows we are still facing an unprecedented hunger crisis which must be addressed.”

“We’re grateful for this partnership with CFFO, and for the long-standing support we’ve experienced from Canadian farmers who continue to share their harvest with the world.”

Funds raised through this Giving Tuesday campaign will support Foodgrains Bank and their members’ partners around the world, to provide emergency food for families affected by situations such as violent conflict or extreme weather, and implement long-term agricultural programs to help lift families out of poverty.

“The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario is proud to stand alongside the Canadian Foodgrains Bank in their mission to fight hunger globally,” says CFFO president Ed Scharringa. “Our members have a deep history of involvement with their growing projects, reflecting our shared commitment to stewardship and compassion. We are looking forward to expanding our Giving Tuesday campaign and furthering the reach and work for Canadian Foodgrains Bank.”

The sentiment is echoed by Brendan Caldwell, director of Caldwell Securities: “Caldwell Securities is honoured to support Canadian Foodgrains Bank, and their global network of people of faith working to end global hunger. Caldwell believes in the power of collective efforts and we are proud to contribute to such important work.”

The joint campaign starts on Wednesday, September 11 and runs until Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 3.
