The Consolidating Climate-Resilient Agriculture and Livelihoods in the Dinik Landscape Project is designed to consolidate and sustain gains achieved under the Nature Positive Food Systems for Climate Change Adaptation (Nature+) Program. As a follow-on to the Nature+ project, Canadian Lutheran World Relief is supporting the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Ethiopia with a one-year agriculture and livelihood project in Ginnir District East Bale Zone, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia.
Building on the investments and results of Nature+, the project will strengthen community ownership, governance, and long-term management of climate-resilient agriculture and natural resource management interventions established. LWF Ethiopia will focus on maintaining soil and water conservation structures, strengthening Participatory Forest Management, Water User Associations, watershed committees, while reinforcing conservation agriculture, agroforestry, sustainable rangeland management, and climate-resilient livelihoods through extension support and Farmer Field schools. Improved market linkages, governance, operation and maintenance systems, and targeted support for vulnerable households will help ensure the sustainability of Nature+ investments. LWF aims to work with 2,400 households (1,200 female-headed households) with a total of 12,000 (6,360 females) people reached through these consolidation and sustainability-focused activities.
