Emergency Relief and Development Overseas (ERDO) are supporting Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda with a second phase of a three-year agriculture and livelihoods project in six villages in Kasese district, Uganda.
This area of Uganda continues to be exposed to flooding from the Mubuku river, and the project is designed to follow up on the previous phase and improve overall livelihoods and food security. Many households in this area depend on subsistence agriculture for their livelihoods and face many challenges that prevent them from producing enough food to cover household food and income needs year-round. These include land degradation, irregular rainfall, soil infertility, limited land sizes to grow crops, and gender inequalities that prevent women to fully participate in agricultural livelihoods. In response to these challenges and to sustain long-term food security in these areas, this project will work towards reducing risks from flooding, increasing food production through conservation agriculture plus, enhancing livelihoods diversification and asset development, transforming gender relations, and strengthening and sharing this work more broadly through advocacy.
Over three years, the project aims to work with 661 households (approximately 3,834 individuals).
