Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) and Africa Christian Church & Schools (ACC&S) are partnering on an agriculture and livelihoods project in Kitui County, Kenya.
Ngieni Sub-location faces chronic food insecurity due to unpredictable rainfall, soil degradation, and limited access to water. The reliance on staple grains with minimal dietary diversity further exacerbates the food security situation, particularly among women and children. Limited livelihood opportunities also force households to engage in unsustainable coping mechanisms, worsening long-term food insecurity.
This project will empower smallholder farmers, particularly women and youth, to adopt sustainable farming techniques, increase access to diverse and nutritious foods, and strengthen resilience to climate shocks. The project will improve food insecurity, raise incomes, prevent environmental degradation, strengthen market systems, promote climate-smart practices, and build resilient livelihoods, while building the capacity of local organizations.
This project aims to reach 1,400 households and ultimately benefit 7,000 people.
