Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) Canada and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) Nepal are partnering on an agriculture and livelihoods projects in Panchthar, Nepal.

Farmers in this area have encountered difficulties with insufficient food production, a preference for nutrition-poor cash crops, animal diseases, limited food varieties, outmigration of youth, lack of affordable credit, poor-quality roads, and weak access to markets and poor terms of trade.

This project will enhance food security and livelihoods, building on the success of the first phase project, by providing smallholder farmers and landless families with targeted technical capacity building, veterinary services, agricultural inputs, nutrition education, access to credit, and equipment including: hydraulic biodegradable-plate making machines, animal castration machines, animal sheds and vermicomposting. The project will also support the formation of a farmer’s cooperative from 41 existing and 6 new groups.

The project aims to work with 1,371 households with 5,526 participants.
