World Renew is supporting ZOA to implement a project near Maiduguri, Borno State in northeastern Nigeria.
Food insecurity in Borno has occurred as a result of conflict and displacement. COVID-19 has also contributed to rising food prices, further straining the ability of displace people and host communities to access food.
ZOA will provide unconditional cash transfers for 1,000 households (5,636 individuals) for ten months. In addition, the project will distribute agricultural inputs, provide agricultural extension, enable women to start small-scale nonagricultural businesses, and establish savings and loans groups.
The project will also provide gender equality training and form a multisectoral taskforce to address gender-based violence risks in project communities.
