There’s someone we’d like you to meet – Jet Takaoka!

Jet Takaoka has recently accepted our invitation to the regional representative position for British Columbia.

Jet Takaoka, originally from Halifax, NS, moved to BC with his partner Joan over 30 years ago. After studying at Trinity Western Seminary, he was a church planting pastor for several years before entering the world of fundraising.

Jet worked for many years at HOPE International Development Agency and then at Mennonite Central Committee. He is passionate about helping the world’s most vulnerable people to have necessities such as clean water and nutritious food. He has visited numerous countries throughout the global south and has seen first-hand how compassionate generosity transforms life for individuals, families, and entire communities.

But he also believes in the transforming effect of generosity on those who give. Jet says, “It’s not about begging on behalf of the poor. It’s about inviting people into a relationship; a relationship where both the giver and the receiver benefit.”

Jet and Joan have four adult children and currently reside in Delta, BC.

We so are excited to welcome Jet to the Foodgrains Bank team! Jet can be contacted via email at jtakaoka@foodgrainsbank.ca.
