Volunteer

Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a partnership of 15 churches and church-based agencies working together to end global hunger. Our international program is implemented by our members and their in-country partners. These partners implement programs in over 35 countries worldwide that range from meeting immediate food needs to reducing malnutrition and helping achieve sustainable food security.

We are recruiting volunteer professional accountants to conduct financial reviews of our partner agencies in the field, to ensure financial accuracy and appropriate safeguarding of financial resources. Each review is conducted by teams consisting of two or more professional accountants.

Reviews typically span three or four days, with three to four reviews scheduled in a region within one overseas trip. The total time commitment for a volunteer is between two to four weeks, with trips being scheduled throughout the year.

The Foodgrains Bank manages all arrangements for conducting the reviews and pays for all related costs including pre-trip medical care, travel costs, and accommodation costs while en-route and in-country.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a faith-based charity. Volunteer accountants must hold a recognized professional accounting designation, and must support the mission of the Foodgrains Bank. Volunteers must also commit to the Foodgrains Bank standards of conduct.

The full job description is available here.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest along with a current resume to volunteer@foodgrainsbank.ca. Applications will be reviewed as received.

At the Foodgrains Bank we believe that a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace makes us a more relevant and effective organization and reflects our belief that all people are created equal and have a role to play in the mission of ending global hunger. We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and identities.
