Most of the people who experience hunger globally are small-scale farmers. After years of progress against global hunger, the number of hungry people in the world is rising again. Why is that?
Several years ago, the Foodgrains Bank developed and distributed ‘Breaking the Cycle of Hunger,’ a unique board game that served as an effective tool for deeper learning about breaking the cycle of hunger for small-scale farmers. The game was designed to help students gain insight into what causes hunger, and what can help break the cycle of hunger.
Now, Breaking the Cycle of Hunger is available online as a digital version!
The online game will give students a broad overview of the challenges faced by small-scale (subsistence) farmers in the developing world. As they move around the game board, students will discover how different factors, such as economics and climate, affect small-scale farmers. They will also learn about some of the solutions to these problems.
