Can singing help feed the hungry? A group called Singin’ in the Grain believes it can! The free concert supports projects through Canadian Foodgrains Bank’s 15 members and their local partners, giving non-farmers a way to help fight global food insecurity. The 2025 concerts feature the Prairie Singers led by Rick Heppner-Mueller and Accent Singers conducted by Meredith Hutchinson.
The focus this year will be on East Africa, including countries like South Sudan, where conflict and displacement have driven nearly 7.7 million people – over half the population – into acute food insecurity. With returnees from Sudan and communities in Upper Nile state, South Sudan is facing catastrophic hunger levels. The crisis is compounded by economic collapse, climate shocks, and disease outbreaks, leaving 2.3 million children at risk of malnutrition and severely limiting humanitarian access to affected regions. These concerts offer an opportunity to hear more about working toward ending world hunger, and to participate in a small way in this effort with donations and support.
Thank you for supporting Singin’ in the Grain.
Donations will go to support the work of Foodgrains Bank around the world.
