Hunger is preventable, let’s get to work

Canadian aid makes a real impact for people living in poverty around the world. What if you could support changing lives around the world right here living in Canada?
Canadian Foodgrains Bank is rooted in the belief that humankind is created in the image of God and that it is God’s desire that no person should go hungry.
It is estimated that up to 757 million people are facing hunger worldwide and do not enjoy “food security,” meaning they do not have regular access to enough nutritious food to live healthy and active lives.
Will you join us and add your voice to support a strong international aid program?
At Canadian Foodgrains Bank, we focus our advocacy efforts on food security and food justice. When we advocate for support for international aid -we talk about official development assistance (ODA). It’s the way countries like Canada provide aid.
We encourage Canadians to join us in working to end hunger in 4 ways: Pray, Learn, Give and Advocate.
Some of these actions are more direct or involved than others. Whichever way you want to get involved, we’re here to help.
LEARN
Are you still wondering what ODA is all about? Check out this 3-minute video that gives you an intro to how international aid can change lives around the world:
PRAY
People of faith have a clear call to love their neighbour and feed the hungry, just as Jesus taught us throughout his ministry on earth. “He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry” (Psalm 146:7). Please browse our resource library for selection of individual and corporate prayer resources.
ADVOCATE
Take action:
You can get involved to create positive change by voicing your support of Canadian aid.
Join us and send a postcard to our government that expresses support for Canada to act on the values of justice, compassion and generosity by helping communities around the world dealing with rising food prices, climate change and conflict by prioritizing support for agriculture and food systems.
If decision makers don’t hear from their constituents, they may assume people don’t care about global hunger. We know Canadians care!
Add your voice by taking action in Ottawa:
Join us to learn and advocate for an end to hunger in Ottawa – October 18 – 22, 2025. Apply to Hunger on the Hill today.
