On March 28, a catastrophic earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand. Current reports confirm that over 2,000 lives have been lost, with more than 3,400 injured, and over 300 people still missing. Entire communities have been left in ruins, and countless families are now homeless, grappling with unimaginable loss and uncertainty.
We as Canadian Foodgrains Bank are not currently responding in the region, but some of our members are on the ground in Myanmar providing relief. We encourage you to support their efforts:
Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Canada
Development and Peace — Caritas Canada
Emergency Relief & Development Overseas (ERDO)
Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Canada
Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D)
The Salvation Army
World Renew Canada
We also ask that you pray for the people of Myanmar and Thailand. Please pray:
For those grieving — May they find comfort as they navigate life without their loved ones.
For those injured — May they receive medical care and healing.
For those who have been displaced — May they find shelter, stability, and hope in the face of uncertainty.
For relief workers and our members’ local partners — May they have strength, endurance, and the resources needed to continue their critical work.
