Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) Canada and Step with Hope are implementing a 10-month food assistance project in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukraine.
Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, many residents are enduring extremely difficult living conditions. This project aims to improve the food security situation of internally displaced people (IDPs) from regions at the front lines of the conflict who have taken refuge in the Dnipro and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as some extremely vulnerable local residents.
The project will provide one-time food baskets to 1,202 households (approximately 3,200 individuals) per month to help meet their food needs, while they register and wait to receive some assistance from the government. Particularly vulnerable households may receive assistance for more than one month. Each per person food parcel will contain: 800 g each of buckwheat, rice and wheat groats; 400 g of oats; 1000 g of sugar; 2000 g of flour; 1000 g each of pasta and peas; 800 g of vegetable oil; 370 g of sweetened condensed milk; 460 g of tomato paste; 230 g of canned fish; 230 g of biscuits and 325 g of canned beef. The project is expected to reach 12,020 households (approximately 32,000 individuals) over its course.
