Canadian Lutheran World Relief is supporting Lutheran World Federation Central African Republic with a five-month food assistance project in Bozoum sub-prefecture, Ouham Pendé Prefecture, Central African Republic (CAR).
The area is heavily affected by protracted conflict and food insecurity. As a result, an estimated 2.4 million people (49% of the population) were projected to face emergency or crisis levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phases 3 or 4) between April and August 2022.
In response, this project will work to stabilize food consumption by providing three-months of cash transfers to vulnerable households. The monthly cash transfer amount is XAF 48,988 (CAD $98) which households can use to purchase food and essential supplies from local markets. This amount is sufficient to provide 100% of the food needs for a family of up to five people.
943 households (4,715 individuals) have been targeted to receive this assistance.
