World Renew is supporting Church of Jesus Christ in Madagascar (SAF/FJKM) with an eight-month food assistance project in Ambovombe District, Androy Region Madagascar.
Southern Madagascar is facing the most extreme drought since 1981, which is having devastating effects on food security. In the region, 1.68 million are estimated to be facing Crisis or worse food insecurity (IPC 3+) and these conditions are expected to deteriorate over the coming months. Global inflation is also expected to affect households purchasing power making food harder to access.
In response, SAF/FJKM eight monthly transfers of in-kind food assistance. Each month, vulnerable households will receive rice, cooking oil, beans, as well as a cash transfer for households to use in local markets to supplement food needs. Households will also receive a seed transfer in time for the planting season to help support their agriculture livelihoods.
10,636 people (2,000 households) are planned to receive this assistance.
