The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund is supporting Community World Service Kenya (CWS Kenya) with a five-month food assistance project in Laisamis Sub- County, Marsabit County, Kenya.

Marsabit County is one of the worst affected counties to be hit by the current drought faced in the Horn of Africa. It is estimated that over 85% of the population is facing food insecurity, with segments of the population facing Emergency food insecurity levels (IPC 4).

Working with community advisory committees, CWS Kenya will provide 4 monthly in-kind food transfers to the most vulnerable households such as those with expectant and lactating women, the sick, female headed houses, people living with disabilities, elderly, children under 5 years, and others severely affected by drought and with limited livelihood options. Each month, households will receive maize flour, beans, oil, and salt.

4,000 households (approximately 20,000 people) are planned to receive this assistance.
