Food transfers for vulnerable households impacted by Tigray conflict

Emergency Food Assistance
Ethiopia Emergency Food Assistance Project

Tearfund Canada is supporting Ethiopia Kale Heywet Church Development (EKHC) with a four-month food assistance project in North Wello, Amhara, Ethiopia.

The Tigray conflict continues to cause significant displacement and increase humanitarian needs. The area has not been able to harvest for four consecutive seasons, markets are poorly functioning and food shortages in northern Ethiopia are expected to last until the security situation improves.

In response, EKHCDC will provide three months of in-kind food transfers to vulnerable households. Each month, households will receive rations of flour, beans, and oil. Households with malnourished children and lactating women will also receive rations of famix.

This project aims to reach 8,000 people with assistance (1,600 households).
