World Renew Canada is supporting Eagles Relief and Development Programme (Eagles) with a three-month food assistance project in Chikwawa District, Malawi.

Malawi has been hit by multiple natural disasters in the last few years and most recently numerous tropical storms such as Cyclone Ana which hit in late January 2022. The impact of these storms has left hundreds of thousands of households depleted of livelihoods, food and shelter. As a result, Chikwawa District is expected to face crisis-level food insecurity for the next several months (IPC 3).

In response Eagles will provide vulnerable households with 3 months of unconditional in-kind food transfers. Each month households will receive maize flour, beans, oil, and salt. This assistance will help address the most immediate food gap needs before the winter harvest happens in July.

1,500 households (approximately 9,000 people) will receive this assistance.
