World Renew Canada is supporting Lebanese Society for Educational and Social Development / Middle East Revive and Thrive with a 12-month food assistance project in Syria.
The Syrian conflict, now in its eleventh year, and national economic crisis continues to displace Syrians and prevent households from affording basic food items due to soaring food prices and limited food resources. The situation is predicted to become worse due to continued increases in food prices and devaluation of local currency. This project aims to increase immediate consumption of food and reduce hunger by providing monthly food baskets to vulnerable Syrian households.
Each month, households will receive at least one box of food containing rice, wheat, pasta, chickpeas, lentils, beans, oil, sugar, salt, and tomato sauce. Households may receive more than one box if they have four or more people living in the household.
2,855 households (14,287 people) are planned to be reached with this assistance.
