World Renew Canada is supporting Lebanese Society for Educational and Social Development/ Middle East Revive and Thrive with a 12-month food assistance project in Beirut, Mount Lebanon and Bekaa Governorates, Lebanon.

Lebanon continues to host the highest number of refugees per capita in the world including up to 1.5 million Syrian refugees (as of October 2021) that have fled from the Syria war, now in its eleventh year. In the last two years, Lebanon has also been facing unprecedented economic, financial, social and health crises which has strained resources and resulted in high food insecurity rates across the country. This project aims to increase immediate consumption of food and reduce hunger by providing vulnerable Syrian refugee and Lebanese families with monthly food vouchers worth $20 USD per person.

This modality allows families to purchase food from their local markets. This assistance is planned to be provided to 1,391 households (approximately 5,967 people).
