World Renew Canada is supporting Food for the Hungry Mozambique (FH Mozambique) with a five-month humanitarian food assistance project in Metuge and Ancuabe districts, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

Conflict in Cabo Delgado has forced many to flee to Southern Districts, putting a strain on local food resources and causing acute food insecurity. Low rainfall, high food prices, and little food stocks are compounding the situation.

In response FH Mozambique will provide monthly food vouchers for four months to vulnerable households. Since local markets are far from the IDP resettlement center, FH Mozambique is partnering with local wholesale suppliers to set up mobile shops closer to the camps. This will allow households to more easily access food supplies that are redeemable with the food vouchers provided.

This assistance will be provided to 1,750 households (approximately 8,750 individuals).
