Tearfund Canada is supporting Ethiopia Kale Heywet Church Development (EKHC) with a five-month humanitarian food assistance project in South Wello, Amhara Region, Ethiopia.
The impact of the ongoing conflict in Tigray has resulted in many households fleeing their homes into neighbouring regions including the Amhara Region. This has strained the area’s resources and resulted in millions of people facing acute or worse food insecurity levels.
In response EKHC will provide three monthly food baskets to internally displaced households. Each month, households will receive flour, beans, and oil. Famix (a nutrition supplementary food) will also be provided to households with malnourished children or lactating mothers.
1,200 households (approximately 6,000 people) are planned to benefit from this assistance.
