Adventist Development and Relief Agency Canada is supporting Adventist Development and Relief Agency Democratic Republic of Congo (ADRA DRC) with a six-month humanitarian food and nutrition assistance project in Kasai Province, DR Congo.

The impact of persistent armed conflict, poverty and widespread deterioration of productive assets and restrictions related to COVID-19 prevention measures continue to cause record levels of food insecurity across the country.

In Kasai, it is projected that over 25 million people will experience crisis or worse food insecurity levels in 2022. In response, ADRA DRC will work to increase food security and address malnourishment faced by vulnerable children and their households. Over six months ADRA DRC will identify children facing malnourishment and provide regular rations of plumpy nut, a supplementary nutrition food, to increase nutrition outcomes. Additionally, the project will provide a monthly cash transfer to vulnerable households which will allow them to purchase essential food supplies from local markets.

In total, this project aims to reach 1,000 households (approximately 5,500 people).
