Emergency Food Assistance

People Served: 6000
Budget: $352,900
Timeline: April 2021 - October 2021

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada is supporting Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Kenya with a six-month humanitarian food assistance response in Turkana County, Kenya.

Food insecurity in this region is driven by a number of factors including erratic weather conditions and desert locusts swarms. This is negatively impacting crop production and livestock health which many households rely on for their livelihoods, and conditions are anticipated to last until at least September 2021.

This project aims to increase immediate food consumption for 1,000 households in this region (approximately 6,000 individuals). Households will receive five monthly rations of maize, beans and cooking oil.
