World Renew is supporting SAF/FJKM with a five-month extension of a drought response and recovery project in Anosy Region, southern Madagascar.

Southern Madagascar has been widely affected by drought in the past few years with no signs of improvement. These prolonged drought conditions continue to cause widespread food insecurity and compromise livelihood recovery, further impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.

To respond to immediate food needs, SAF/FJKM is continuing to provide 1,500 households (9,658 people) with five months of unconditional food assistance. Assistance will be a mixed modality that includes a monthly cash distribution and rice for each household.

In the previous phase of this project, households were provided with one female goat or sheep, and 52 village savings and loan groups were established.
