Timeline: December 2019 - April 2020

Mennonite Central Committee Canada is supporting Kulima Mbobumi Training Centre with a five-month food assistance project in 10 wards in Binga District, Matabelaland North Province.

This is the third phase of food assistance being provided by Kulima Mbobumi Training Centre due to persisting hunger needs. Poor harvests due to drought and crop disease and high food prices caused by hyperinflation, mean households are facing serious food shortages and can’t afford to purchase food in the market.

This project is providing four monthly rations of maize meal, beans and oil to 2,100 of the most vulnerable and food insecure households (approximately 10,500 beneficiaries). Vulnerable households include those with at least three children, pregnant or nursing mothers, orphans and elders.  The budget is $554,000.
