This activity raises awareness about emergency food rations which are often distributed by governments or non-governmental organizations at refugee camps or to communities who are facing severe food shortages.

Learning objective: To have students learn about food rations.
Skills: critical thinking, health and well-being. If preparing food: cooking, math, following instructions
Recommended time: About 45 minutes is needed to serve and eat the meal. Additional time is needed to prepare and do the supplementary activities. The proposed activities could also be done at another time.
Recommended grade level: Elementary school and up, Ages 6-Adult
Subjects: social studies / global issues, home economics (cooking), health & wellness, math
