While we may all be familiar with the day-to-day hunger pangs we feel between meals, hunger in developing countries can mean constantly feeling weak or tired, not knowing when your next meal will come, or having to make critical decisions on what to sacrifice and how to cope. Skip meals or reduce portion sizes? Sell livestock and other assets? Send children to school or purchase food?

Ending hunger is all about ensuring food security. Use the backgrounder to engage your students.

I have used this PowerPoint numerous times in my grade 12 Global Geography class. I find it extremely easy to use as an introduction and I like it because it is not text heavy. Also, our school is very multicultural, so the students new to English find this accessible as well.
