Monday, October 15, 2012 - Paintings about right to food now available on the Web
In 2010, 18 artists from Canada and around the world were asked to interpret the meaning of the human right to food, especially as it relates to hunger in the world. The result was the Just Food art exhibit, which toured across Canada for two years.
The tour is coming to an end this year, but the exhibit will live on—online.

Wednesday, October 10, 2012 - October 28 Concert to highlight issue of global hunger, raise funds for Canadian Foodgrains Bank
Over 850 million people in the world don’t have enough to eat—something
that Colin Creighton, Associate Pastor at Zion Church in Didsbury, finds
very disturbing.
“God doesn’t want anyone to be hungry,” he says. “As Christians, we have a responsibility to help.”
Zion Church will be doing its part to help alleviate global hunger
October 28, when it hosts singer-songwriter Steve Bell for a fundraising
concert for Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

gathered to watch 120 combines attempt a world record harvest near
Monkton, ON for Canadian Foodgrains Bank. After the event, she wrote the

My Dad had said we’d never see anything like it again, not in our
lifetimes—120 combines lined up around one field of 160 acres of
soybeans.

Monday, October 01, 2012 - People can still donate to help people who don’t have enough to eat
A year ago this week, on October 5, 2011, thousands of people flocked to
the Tollenaar farm between Listowel and Monkton, ON to take part in
Harvest for Hunger.
The goal of the day was to harvest 160 acres of soybeans in ten minutes
or less, and to raise $200,000 for Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

The Bible tells us that we are blessed so that we can bless others.
Canadian Foodgrains Bank has put together a Thanksgiving worship
resource package that will call your church into a time of praise and
thanksgiving, and then invite you to respond with thankfulness as we
think about those around the world who don’t have enough to eat.
The resource package, which includes prayers, suggested readings, song
suggestions, contemporary hymns, children’s stories, and opportunities
to respond, is available on the Foodgrains Bank website for download,
free of charge.

Thursday, September 27, 2012 - $90,000 from canola harvest donated to Canadian Foodgrains Bank
“It was a great day for God and a great day for the poorest of the poor.”
That’s how Leo Seguin, one of the organizers for the Westlock growing
project, described the September Canola harvest in Westlock, Alberta.
Over a 100 people turned up to celebrate the harvest, taking nine
combines only 2.5 hours to bring in the field of canola. About 37.5
bushels per acre were harvest netting 7871 bushels, and raising over
$90,000 to help people around the world who don’t have enough food to
eat.
