Harvest for Hunger Nova Scotia - Corn Maze

Location: Masstown Market - 10 minutes from Truro Nova Scotia (Exit 12 TransCanada Hwy)

Date: September 11 - September 30, 2012

Farmers in the Masstown, Nova Scotia area have partnered with Masstown Market and Trinity United Church to create Harvest for Hunger Nova Scotia, a project raising money to help end hunger through the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.

The group is hoping to raise $20,000 this year by planting a corn crop and donating the proceeds to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. But this is no ordinary corn crop – it is part of the Masstown Market Corn Maze, and one dollar from each entrance fee is also being donated to help reach that goal!

Visit Captain Cob’s Crazy Corn Conundrum at the Masstown market, open seven days a week and make a donation to help end global hunger. Get lost in the maze, where you will learn about global hunger and what you can do to get involved.

What can you bring to the table?

Harvest for Hunger Nova Scotia expects to harvest 600 bushels of corn to sell on the local market at $8.30 per bushel to raise $5000. But, since we all can’t be farmers, we are inviting you to help us reach our goal of raising $20,000 by 'buying' three bushels of corn for $25.00

$25 can make a big difference around the world! It can feed a family of 5 for 2 weeks (25 kg of grains, 3.75 kg of pulses, and 2.5 litres of oil) or provide two tools and 5 kgs of seeds to a farmer.

You can donate your bushels by, clicking here and designating your gift to Harvest for Hunger Nova Scotia, or make your donation at Captain Cob’s Crazy Cornundrum Corn Maze at Masstown Market, you can also send a cheque to Trinity United Church (H4H NS) 415 Onslow Rd., Upper Onslow, NS B6L 5L2, 895-4188.

Your donation will be added to the total amount raised by Harvest for Hunger NS to help hungry people in the developing world.
